Trimester #1 - Student Project
One of the goals that I have put on Room 151 is to bring academic language into the long term memory. Our students have heard of an adjective, but still confuse it with other grammar (noun, plural, verb, etc.). The "Master Presentation" is a student driven project in which THEY become the instructors by creating relevant and visually striking slides in an academic language presentation. Below you will find some highlights from 6th, 7th, and 8th graders using the Google Docs presentation software. Students created, edited, and ultimately published their slides in real-time all on the same file at the same time! They could see what others were doing and it inspired many splendid slides. See for yourself.
Trimester #2 - What Do You Want To Be?
Students really got into this one. This activity was intended to have students look a little deeper into a career they might be interested in. After students filled out an activity questionnaire using the internet, they were asked to create a 6-slide powerpoint breaking down the highlights of their chosen career. They ended by presenting their presentations to their classmates to give each the benefit of each others research. Take a look below. They are really great!!! (A lesson plan, activity sheet, and grading rubric is available)

Trimester #3 - Time To Invent
It's the end of the year and the students are really pushing it into high gear. They have just smashed the California Assessments and are ready to conquer the end of the year project. This year they were expected to invent something that would solve a common problem in the community. The project included interviews, questionaires, press release, and the creation and presentation of a working commercial for their new invention. Here are a few that might impress you.
